FLY ME AWAY- Media Meditation 3

These commercials are pure genius!!!!!

(Amazon Kindle, Youtube.com)

Over the past year, I have seen this commercial so many times and I must admit that every time I watch it, I really want to purchase a Kindle!!! This just shows how powerful a creative commercial can be!

I personally do not read for enjoyment. I have zero patience and mainly stick to reading blogs and online articles, but I find that the Kindle is a great alternative to books. You can download any book, novel, or short story that you want in sixty seconds! This product is just one sign of the shift that our society is taking towards technology.

Since the Kindle’s release, there are other products that have come out, such as the i-Pad, that all help bring books to one’s fingertips quickly and effectively. One thing that I have been noticing on television is the shift in children’s products.

Recently, I saw a commercial for a children’s e-book. It’s a Kindle for Kids!!!!!!

V.Reader Interactive E-Reading System is a new product that helps make reading more exciting and interactive for kids! I think this is a great product and will help children learn to read at a quicker rate, but don’t you think it’s a little much? What happened to the good old days of mom or day coming into your room and grabbing your favorite book off the shelf and tucking you into bed just so you can hear the same story for the 200th time!

Hungry Caterpillar- one of the best books EVER!

This shift in our society towards technology is amazing, but I think it is a double-edged sword. The developmental process of children is going to accelerate at a very quick rate due to new products just like V. Reader has released. Children are going to grow up quickly and become very technologically advanced and basically loose their innocence. I don’t know if this will happen for sure, but it is just my opinion on what the future holds.

If our society keeps taking steps just like this exposing our youth to technologies originally made for adults, where are we going to be in 10 years? Is there going to be a Facebook made especially for pre-schoolers and grammar school children? This is why our society needs to take our shift towards technology at a slow rate, especially when it comes to the youth of our world.
