"Nip" slip on the runway!

Hello everyone! My name is Matthew Butler (aka Butler or Butts) and this is my first official post on my blog. Being new to Blogger, I never thought that I would like it, but after learning more about this blogging site, I must admit, I have become a huge fan!

I am originally from New York, but my parents currently reside in Northern New Jersey, so I guess I can now call myself a "Jersey boy". People throughout the country have this notion about the "arm pit" of America and think that it is filled with pollution, guido's, and fist pumping, but that is not the case! Northern New Jersey is in a league of it's own! The one thing that we do have from Northern NJ that I am quite annoyed with are "The Real Housewives of New Jersey", pictured above. I would just like to say that I do not know one woman that is like any of these fine little Italian ladies. They are just NOT OK in my book!

Enough of New Jersey!!!!!!!!! (As you can tell, I'm not exactly the biggest fan...)

For the past four years, I have been working a Monelle, clothing and accessories for a fabulous living. Fashion is something that really drives me. I have developed my own sense of style, which is extremely preppy, and everyone knows me for that. This is why Monelle is the perfect fit for me! Working at Monelle, I am exposed to many different forms of media, mainly magazines, where I learn about all the current trends. Over the summer, Chanel, one of my favorite high end lines, released their Spring/Summer 2010 Campaign and guess where they shot the entire thing? SHELBURNE FARMS!

Karl Lagerfeld, the head designer for Chanel, has a house on the Grand Isles, and was very inspired by Vermont. This was one media experience I will never forget. When I opened the magazine and saw the advertisements for the first time, I was beyond excited. Karl even decided to use Vermont as an inspiration for a fashion show during Paris fashion week. (Below is the video of his show!)

Since I am discussing my love for fashion, I need to discuss some things about our society and the media. I love Twitter, where anyone can live Tweet any event. This has changed the way people receive information about fashion. Going to any Fashion Week throughout the world is a huge experience! People that can't gain access to this shows can now follow designers and people live Tweeting fashion shows! I think it's amazing! The one thing that I can't stand about our society is how the fashion industry portrays the perfect body image for women. Not everyone can be 5'11 and 110 lbs. This is why I think that fashion needs to make a shift away from this skinny body image and go more towards a natural, more curvy image! It is just more realistic!

Over the years, my family has noticed my love for fashion and my preppy style. This is why in the future I want to open my own clothing store, inspired by Monelle. I want it to be aimed towards men and boys, but also carry a limited selection of woman's clothing. I have been working on a business plan for about two years now and I really hope that my dream of having my own store comes true!

Well, that is all for now!

I hope that everyone enjoys reading my blog over the next few months!

Cheers!
-Butler
